A SPORTING SOUL
Crafted in steel and issued in a worldwide limited edition of 1,000, the Bentley Supersports special series carries a bezel adorned with an elegant raised and knurled motif evoking the characteristic design of Bentley controls. Beneath this ultra-sporty, powerful bodywork beats an exclusive Breitling for Bentley motor chronometer-certified by the COSC: a selfwinding chronograph movement with central 60-minute counter. The latter is an original system enabling extremely clear reading of the minutes being timed, exactly like conventional time read-off thanks to the dedicated red arrow-tipped hand. It is complemented by a 12-hour counter at 9 o’clock and a central scale with hundredth of an hour or hundredth of a minute graduations. In addition to its traditional fixed tachometric scale, the dashboard-style dial features a «variable tachometer» with circular slide rule. This world-exclusive Breitling-made device – contrary to the usual tachometers that cannot extend beyond 60-second periods – serves to measure average speed whatever the time elapsed, the distance covered or the speed reached. The Bentley Supersports is fitted with a rubber strap or a Speed bracelet ensuring a perfect hold on the wrist. A superchronograph for a supercar.

BREITLING PRESENTS THE NEW-WAVE SUPEROCEAN
In the 1950s, at a time when it had already established itself as «official supplier to world aviation», Breitling took on another challenge by setting out to conquer maritime depths. 1957 thus saw the launch of the famous Superocean, equipped with an ultra-readable dial, an armored glass and a monohull case watertight to a depth of 200 meters (660 ft) – a remarkable feat at that time. Originally designed to equip professional and military divers, and particularly special troops, this model soon gained a following among enthusiasts in the booming field of leisure diving. It subsequently gave rise to a whole line of diver‘s watches and chronographs, which have distinguished themselves over successive generations by their extreme sturdiness as well as their peerless performances – including water resistance to depths of 500, 1,500 and even 2,000 meters. Breitling is now giving fresh impetus to this legendary collection by launching a Superocean with an entirely revamped design.

Die Kollektion Breitling for Bentley wurde mit einem neuen, einzigartigen, dem Gründer der britischen Prestige-Automarke gewidmeten Stück bereichert. Diese Taschenuhr «à grandes complications » wird an der Baselworld 2010 enthüllt.
Jedes Jahr zelebriert Breitling Haute-Horlogerie und kreiert ein Stück mit dem Namen Bentley Masterpiece. Dieses mechanische Meisterwerk verbindet Tradition, Performance und hochkarätiges Handwerk. Der Jahrgang 2010 präsentiert sich als Taschenuhr, die zwei der höchstentwickelten uhrmacherischen Komplikationen in sich vereint: Ewiges Kalendarium mit Anzeigen für das Datum, den Wochentag, den Monat, das Schaltjahr unter Einbezug des 29. Februars alle vier Jahre, die Mondphasen sowie eine Minutenrepetition, die auf Wunsch die Stunden, die Viertel und die Minuten läutet.
Das Werk besteht aus fast 700 Einzelteilen und basiert auf einem der seltenen, in den hauseigenen Ateliers gefundenen Rohlinge von Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts. Die raffinierte Bearbeitung – von Hand polierte und anglierte Komponenten, Genfer Streifen – ist durch den transparenten Gehäuseboden sichtbar. Den 18-karätigen Gehäusedeckel ziert, als Hommage an den Firmengründer, eine Gravur von Walter Owen Bentley am Steuer eines seiner Rennboliden. Unter dem Konterfei stehen die berühmten Initialen «W.O.». Damit gedenken Ingenieure, Kunstgewerbler sowie Liebhaber schöner Mechanik dem unvergesslichen britischen Autokonstrukteur.
